KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a money changer in relation to this case.
A bribery and money laundering case involving Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob
prior to freeing him once they discovered his heart issue.
Upon being reached out to, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki mentioned that the accused was held for two days to aid with the inquiry; however, they reported having issues related to their heart.
He mentioned that the accused was subsequently sent to a physician and was diagnosed with a heart embolism, after which they were discharged for continued care.
Azam mentioned that the documentation of Ismail Sabri’s statement could require several additional sessions before being finalized.
In response to potential prosecution, he mentioned that numerous additional people required summoning for their testimonies as well.
The ex-prime minister was spotted departing from the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya yesterday at around 4:35 pm following an interrogation session lasting over six hours where he recorded his statement.
A source from MACC verified that the procedure for documenting Ismail Sabri’s statement, which aims to aid in the probe into corruption and money laundering allegations against him, will proceed tomorrow morning.
He is under investigation for alleged misuse concerning the spending and acquisition of funds meant for promoting and publicizing the Keluarga Malaysia program during his term from August 2021 to November 2022. – BERNAMA
